How to Find a Technical Cofounder – Advice from Y-Combinator

The Y-Combinator startup accelerator has helped launched hundreds of startups.

Their CEO, Michael Seibel, has helped startup founders worldwide build their teams, including recruiting technical co-founders.

Watch this short video for his advice on how you can find and recruit software developers and engineers to join your startup.

A summary of Michael’s advice for finding technical co-founders includes:

  1. Start with friends.
  2. Focus on those who write code daily and enjoy it.
  3. Pick 5 of them and actually make them an actual offer to force a conversation.
  4. Run the same process with co-workers.
  5. If neither of those work, build a professional network with engineers to find more technical co-founder prospects.
  6. And there’s more….

This topic is a common discussion topic at our MasterMinds OC Startup Accelerator workshops, so if you are looking for a co-founder for your startup venture, we hope this video is helpful to you.

Thanks to Y Combinator's Michael Seibel for sharing this useful startup advice!
